Brief
Silent View Windows & sister company, Thame Builders proudly collaborated on the creation of a bespoke new build home in Moreton, Oxfordshire, designed to deliver a balance of contemporary architecture, everyday comfort & long term performance. From the outset, the vision was to move away from a standard developer style property & instead create a home centred around natural light, thoughtful layout design & a strong connection between the interior spaces & surrounding landscape.
Careful consideration was given to glazing design, symmetry, proportions & the flow of the open plan living spaces to ensure the property felt calm, spacious & functional for modern family living. The orientation of the plot allowed large areas of glazing to be incorporated throughout the home while still maintaining privacy & warmth.
Alongside aesthetics, the project placed a strong emphasis on build quality, energy efficiency & detailing. Working closely with Palmer & Partners Architects, the team developed a design that combined contemporary architectural features with materials & proportions sympathetic to the surrounding Oxfordshire village setting.
Like many bespoke residential projects, the build also involved infrastructure and utility-related challenges during the process. Throughout the construction works, every effort was made to remain considerate of neighbouring properties and the local community while coordinating the different stages of the build.
Products used
The project brought together a wide range of specialist suppliers and tradespeople to deliver the high standard of finish achieved throughout the build. The main construction works were carried out by our sister company, Thame Builders, with materials carefully sourced from a network of local suppliers to support the delivery of the project. The property also incorporates premium aluminium glazing systems from Origin alongside selected Cortizo door systems, all expertly installed by Silent View Windows with a strong emphasis on slim sightlines, thermal efficiency, and architectural impact.

The glazing specification included;

The Origin OW80 system was selected for its ultra slim aluminium sightlines & clean modern appearance, helping maximise natural light throughout the property while maintaining sharp architectural detailing. Large format Cortizo sliding doors were incorporated to strengthen the connection between the internal living spaces & the surrounding landscape, creating bright open plan areas filled with natural light.
Beyond the glazing, the build incorporated a carefully selected palette of contemporary materials & high performance systems, including:
- Contemporary brickwork
- High performance insulation systems
- Modern roof coverings
- Stone & hard landscaping finishes
- Premium internal finishes
- Air source heat pump system
- Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
A standout feature of the property is the bespoke kitchen, designed & supplied by Et Lorem Kitchen Studio. Positioned at the center of the open plan layout, the kitchen was designed to integrate seamlessly with the architecture of the home while balancing practicality, warmth & clean contemporary detailing. Features include concealed access doors, a hidden pantry area, premium cabinetry & carefully considered details designed to maintain a calm, uncluttered aesthetic throughout the space.
Outcome
The completed property successfully delivered the original vision of creating a contemporary yet welcoming home that feels architecturally impressive while remaining highly practical for everyday living. The finished result combines expansive glazing, open plan layouts & carefully selected materials to create bright, calm & connected living spaces throughout the home.
One of the defining features of the project is the extensive use of architectural glazing, particularly the first floor Cortizo sliding opening paired with a frameless glass balustrade, designed to maximise elevated views & natural light while maintaining clean architectural lines.
The property has received extremely positive feedback for its spacious atmosphere, natural light & attention to detail, with visitors frequently commenting on how the home manages to feel both modern & warm at the same time. Features such as vaulted bathroom ceilings, large rooflights & internal Crittall style doors further enhance the architectural character & sense of openness throughout the property.
