Brief
Silent View Window’s alternative timber window supplier, The Residence Collection, a premium window and door designer, supplied 26 of its original timber alternative R9 windows to one of our recent jobs which, involved a striking transformation of an 18th-century building (former bank) into stunning new apartments in the heart of Thame High Street. The partnership also involved fabricator, CWG Choices.
At Silent View Windows we take great pride in working on historic buildings and one of the aspects we love is the stories they tell. We’re excited that this renewal project has honoured the legacy of the building and has created opportunities for a new chapter in the life of the local community.
Products used
The R9 windows installed were in the popular Grained White colourway, featuring leaded glass. These were thoughtfully chosen to provide elements of 19th-century architectural design, replicating the style of the original structure. Offering modern functionality and energy efficiency, aligning with the preservation needs of the conservation area.
When it comes to sensitively upgrading heritage projects, The Residence Collection has gained widespread approval from local authorities in conservation areas and Grade II listed buildings throughout the UK. This approval allows for a smoother installation process for installers like ourselves, eliminating a major obstacle to preserving the historical character of these heritage properties.
The selected windows exceed British Building Regulation standards with a u-value of 1.2W/m²K, offering A++ energy with double glazing as standard. The R9 collection, available in 21 colours, provides optimal insulation and energy savings. For this project, as previously mentioned Grained White was chosen, a colour that is one of The Residence Collection’s best sellers.
